Excuse me while I blow the dust off this blog and prep you all for the triumphant return of Fine Tuned!  A lot has changed in my absence over the past few months – DJ sets are now in the works, Al Gore found footprints of ManBearPig (so he says), and corpses of Pompeii have risen from the dead to protest the 1% of museum artifacts having all the wealth.  Well, DJ sets at least.

I’m going to be migrating this site over to its own domain and ramping up the layout so stay tuned!

In the meantime, I figured it was time for me to put out a recording.  So here’s a little mashup I snipped from my live set.  The Devil’s Den, mau5ified and breakbeat’d for a pinch extra rage. Skrillmau5 FTW

Rage on, Ravemasters.

Flux Pavilion & Doctor P – “Superbad” Official Video

Posted in Dubstep, Experimental with tags , , , on December 13, 2011 by dissonantcognitions

Such a ridiculous video to go with a ridiculous song.  Actual instruments and jazz-funk style recording from dubstep artists?  “Superbad” itself is probably the strangest sounding song to come out of the Doctor P & Flux factory to date but hey, I’m not dumping on innovation.  Seems to me that this is just meant to be a novel piece of enjoyment, so smile and rock along to the weird.

Rihanna Feat. Calvin Harris – We Found Love (Eos Remix)

Rihanna Eos

As the dust settles from the explosion of R3hab’s killer remix of “We Found Love” last month, new visions begin to rise above the clouds.  This one is a totally different feel than the electrified, partied out version we’ve since become addicted to.  Eos throws us back and forth between melodic synths and hardstyle dubstep bass and wobbles from all over the spectrum.  At times I find myself slipping into a trance with the introductions, only to then be whipped in the face with massive bass and distortion.  Definitely a surprising and unpredictable take on the already smash hit.

Avicii – Levels (Skrillex Remix)

Avicii Skrillex

Are these two things even legally allowed to be present in the same song title?  I’m speechless.  Let’s face it, you know this song and you know Skrillex.  For me to even attempt to describe either would be blasphemous.  But I’m a reckless man so I’ll give you a hint at what you’re in for here.  The club, radio, and pop-hoppin’ “Levels” collides with the hardstyle production of the prince of modern dubstep in an epic remix for the ages. This sound is rockin’ for headbanging and dance floors at the same time.  Treat your ears to this collision of epic proportions.

Shock One – Relapse (Feat. Sam Nafie)

Shock One Relapse

I absolutely love vocal dubstep.  It usually adds a certain brutality to hear vocal accentuation over dubstep bass filters, but this case is totally different.  Throwing us back to hints of dubstep’s roots, Shock One makes a truly beautiful track in a genre that has become known by the masses as the heavy metal of the electro world.  Relapse is beautiful, heavy, and upbeat – all mixed into a cocktail of epic proportions.
