Alvin Risk

After a couple of days without posts I figured I’d come back at you all full force with a knock in the face of raw mixing.  So, without further ado, here is a slammin’ half hour mix from producer Alvin Risk.  Many of you may know his name from his hot-as-fire remix of Ali Love’s “Diminishing Returns” that I showcased earlier this month (and appears in the end of this mix).  This time he’s stepping up to the tables to deliver a raw house/electro/dubstep mix of some well known tracks for all you loyal ravers.  So if your going out for Halloween tonight, here’s a perfect pregame mix to get you hyped up for the night.  Scary good.

Kaskade – Lick It (Feat. Skrillex)

The man behind the street crowds of LA this past summer is about to start up another riot.  With the debut of his new album, Fire & Ice, we now have a whole new set of the house master’s club-ready tracks just waiting to be heard.  Dropping just yesterday, this album showcases a few collaborations from big names such as Dada Life, Inpetto, and Skrillex.  Piecing together Skrillex’s signature distorted bass with Kaskade’s well-known sound, this pairing sounds like it simply happened naturally.  With the potential to appease fans of house, electro, and even dubstep, Kaskade may have tapped into a new level of collaboration that bends genres and sounds alike.  Bump this funky jam and see what all the hype is about.

Play Me

What is Moombahton you ask? For those of you not familiar, Moomahton is the swagalicious lovechild of Daddy Dubstep and Momma Reggaeton Dancealot.  And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the portrait of the coolest family on the block.  Courtesy of Play Me Records, we have a free sample of what to expect from their new selection of hot beats in the coming year.  This track from The Bolivian Mining Affair is the most addicting dance track I’ve heard all year, without a shout of a doubt.  Look for their forthcoming EP, “Are You Up For Getting Down,” in January 2012.  Go forth my moombaheads, and jump to this.

Rihanna & Calvin Harris – We Found Love (R3hab’s XS Remix)

We Found Love

The hipster-demon living in my ears would usually tell me not to even look at something with “Rihanna” in the title, but since i saw R3hab tacked on the end of this I figured it was worth a shot.  Let’s just say that demon has been evicted.  This jam is a straight up room-bouncer.  R3hab is again living up to his ever-growing reputation among the electro house community and beyond.  If you were fortunate enough to have seen him at a Dayglow Blu show recently, I hope you went insane.  Keep an eye here for more R3hab tracks because he’s certainly made a fanatic out of me.

Figure This Is Halloween

Mwahahahaha. Take a trip down memory lane to the nightmares of your childhood with this chilling tribute to Tim Burton’s classic animated  spook show.  Keeping with the rapidly surging Halloween theme, Figure manages to make this remix appeal to both fans of the original song and those waiting in anticipation for inevitable wobble fest.  So play it for the kids on the 31st, because this one is going to leave some goosebumps.

The M Machine – Promise Me A Rose Garden & Glow

The M Machine

Finally, a breath of fresh air in the electro scene!  Released yesterday on OWSLA, these two teaser tracks are signs of good things to come from new artists over at Skrillex’s up-and-coming powerhouse label.  “Promise Me A Rose Garden” is the perfect blend of indie-hip sound with an electro gold bump that deviates from the standard build-drop-wobble formula that has long been standardized.  “Glow” takes us a bit further down the indie road with the likeness of Family Force Five-style sounds shining alongside a track of delicate vocals.  The M Machine has found a recipe for explosion here and personally, I’m excited to see the flames kindle.

Urban Assault – Halloween

Urban Assault

Ah Halloween.  ‘Tis this season for blood, gore, candy, and slutty costumes.  To help you get in the spirit, flip on this pretty dubby little remix of Michael Myer’s knife-stabbing anthem from Heavy Artillery Records.  Or go to a strip club.  Whatever Halloween means to you.  Man, the message of halloween has been lost more than the chocolate eggs and bunnies of easter season.  Let us rejoice.
